TwinLUG hauled some stuff down to FALLCON. It's the large two day comic con here in the Twin Cities. We got a table. That's Alice setting up. We wanted to promote the club and the TCBX. The latter is the Twin Cities Brick Expo. That's in a couple of weeks. Oct 18. More info at TCBX. This is the 20th FALLCON. I hadn't been to one in 3 years. It's still at the State Fair Grounds but now it's in the big room under the Grandstand. Lot's of space. The con has always been good about giving space, and free food, to artists and creators to promote their work.
I haven't been much interested in most super hero comics for a long while but I do like Disney comics and still buy those. Don Rosa had a table and gave an hour long talk. That was the first comic panel I had been to in more than 20 years. I got his autograph too. He's one of the only two living comic book artists that still really like to read. The other being Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy. Rosa has retired from working on comics due to failing eyesite. I'll miss new stories, but I have the old ones to re-read. You can see scans of the all of Rosa's Disney comic output at this site.
On the left side of the table Brian has three small micro scale ships. They aren't the same scale as Micropolis but they fit well enough. Micropolis has grown since it's start a few months ago. Gary built a small 12 stud river edge to fill the rest of the display case at the LEGO store at the Mall of America. It makes it's first appearance here. That's the flyer for the TCBX in the corner of the page. We promoted the hello out of it. I also had a flyer with lots of LEGO websites on it. That proved to be pretty well recieved. It's always good to have something to hand to people. It really breaks the ice and makes it more personal.
That's pretty much the spread. The rock monster got moved on the second day and lots of Star Wars characters somehow made it onto the table. You can't keep those guys out of anywhere. They are always turning up on MOCpages, in the weirdest places. The modules are by Gary, Nathan, Brian, Roy, Max and me.
That's my gray building next to Alice and Roy's white building. Then the star attraction, The Super Friends Hall of Justice. I never watched that cartoon series but I guess Roy did. He built that and made more than a dozen custom Superhero minifigs. Very well recieved by adults and kids.
