The 15th season came out on dvd last December 2012. The season started November 3 2003 and the 22 episodes ran through May 24 2004. The box is very Otto-centric and has a nice 3-d plastic Otto face glued to the front. They've been doing this for a while. I haven't been a fan of their packaging. I think they sacrificed utility for style. They use a huge paper fold out to store the dvds and if you aren't carefull you can put tiny scratches on the dvds when you remove or replace them. Some of them come pre-scratched. They play ok right now and I won't be taking them out that often, it's just annoying. Single or double slim cases are my favorite dvd holders. I'm glad to be seeing the series coming out on dvd, no matter the packaging. I just wish they would put them out faster than 1 season a year. They are still 8 seasons behind getting the sets out. There were a funny bunch of episodes, I had seen some of them but missed close to half.
The opening episode is Treehouse Of Terror XIV. It's a trilogy of silly stories and one of the last two episodes written by John Swartzwelder. He has written some 50 plus episodes, more than anyone else so far. He quit the show but continued writing. He has several novels out now but I haven't read them. You can find them on Amazon. Homer's mom returns in My Mother The Carjacker. Glenn Close plays his mom. Lisa becomes school student body president in The President Wore Pearls. Michael Moore guests. The Simpsons travel to England in The Regina Monologues. Tony Blair, Ian McKellen and J K Rowling guest in what would be the last Swatzwelder episode. Homer battles a bear in The Fat And The Furriest. Krusty has a bar mitzvah in Today, I Am A Clown. Homer becomes the nicest guy in Springfield in Tis The Fifteenth Season.
Marge Vs Singles, Seniors, Childress Couples And Teens, And Gays has Marge fighting for families. She wins with the help of her kids. Homer builts Bart a battle'bot in I, (Annoyed Grunt)-Bot. Since Homer isn't that smart he has to be the robots guts. He gets pretty beat up before the end of the show. Luckily he's pretty resilient. Marge writes a romance novel in Diatribe Of A Mad Housewife and Homer drives an ambulance for a while. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Thomas Pynchon and Tom Clany guest. Margical History Tour has Marge tell the kids some stories. Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore has Bart's best friend move to Capitol City and Homer makes some spare money panhandling. Lisa becomes depressed that Maggie scores higher on an IQ test in Smart And Smarter. Artie Ziff turns up in the Simpsons attic in The Ziff Who Came To Dinner. He'd cheated his stockholders and he's on the run.
Wine causes some trouble in Marge and Homer's lives in Co-Dependent's Day. Bart's in juvie in The Wandering Juvie. Sarah Michele Geller and Charles Napier guest star. Skinner and Edna nearly get married in My Big Fat Geek Wedding. Edna has some rebond sex with Comic Book Guy. Homer and Marge try to go on vacation by themselves in Catch 'Em If You Can but Bart and Lisa dog their trail across the country. Homer pies some local creeps in Simple Simpson. Nichelle Nichols guests. Marge and Homer recall their first kiss in The Way We Weren't. Bart moons the American flag in Bart-Mangled Banner. Lisa starts her own paper when Burns buys the local media outlets in Fraudcast News.
Each episode has a commentary with various people who worked on the show. I enjoy them as much as the episodes. There are some deleted scenes and a bit of other material. I wish they would ramp up the schedule of the sets. Mostly it's been one a year or so. There are still 8 seasons to go and at that rate they'll never get caught up until after the series ends. The show was renewed for the current 24th season and the next. I rarely see the new shows, even with On Demand I just don't go there. Someday they'll be on dvd and I can see them.
