A couple of years after The Young Ones, three of the cast would work again with writer Ben Elton on the 1987 BBC program Filthy, Rich & Catflap. I hadn't seen this show since the late 80's or early 90's. Someone in Winnipeg sent me a copy of a couple of episodes and was supposed to send the rest but failed. I forgot about them for the most part but recently I found they've been up on YouTube for a while. Here's a link to the whole series in one folder on YouTube. Like The Young Ones it's pretty loud, noisey and dangerous. There's murder and mayhem through out the six episodes. They only produced the one season and never revisited the characters. Rik Mayall plays Richie Rich. He's an actor and tv presenter with little talent. Nigel Planer plays Richie's twisted agent Ralph Filthy. Ade Edmonson plays Richie's bodyguard Edward Catflap. None of them operate in a normal way. There's plenty of violence and laughs in each show. If you liked The Young Ones this is in the same vein. If you hadn't seen TYO you might be in for a surprise. It's pleasantness will be up to debate. Personally I got a laugh out of each episode. Makes me want to watch The Young Ones again. Be sure to keep an eye out for these guest stars: Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Mel Smith and Chris Barrie.
