Vice Squad is a 1982 crime drama with an opening credits song by Wings Hauser. Neon Slime is a pretty dumb song. Wings is in the movie, he plays a murderous pimp called Ramrod. Wings is really good at being a psycho. Season Hubley plays Princess, she's a street walker who falls afoul of Ramrod.
The movie takes place over a few hours. As it opens we meet Princess and her daughter. She gets a call from a girl called Ginger who works for a pimp called Ramrod. Ginger tells Princess that Ramrod is after her for holding out on him. She's hidden herself but Ramrod finds her pretty easily. He goes nuts and beats Ginger to death. Original MTV VJ Nina Blackwood plays Ginger. The cops frame Princess into helping them capture Ramrod. The bust goes fairly well but the ride to the station doesn't. Ramrod causes the police car to crash and he gets away. The rest of the movie is the cops chasing after Ramrod and Ramrod chasing after Princess. There's plenty of fist fights, yellin', gun shootin', car drivin', murderin' and prostitutes.
Director Gary A Sherman spent a lot of time with the LA vice squad to get a feel for the night life. He's done a good job of creating a look into that world. It's a pretty sad fuckin' place. All in all an entertaining crime film, though some might not like it so gritty and violent. Mom wouldn't like it but I thought it was worth a look. I'd watch it again someday.
