I figured out how to turn the Hermoine keychain into a useable minifig. Lego is clearing out many of their keychains at 1 and 2 bucks each. The Hermione's are $2 and the Dumbledore's a buck. Their Bricklink prices are much higher, both starting between $3-4 each. I wanted a few extra Hermione's for stock. It takes less than a minute to take one apart and all you need is a pair of pliers. I had both of those things. Seems like time and the will to take things apart has gotten me in some trouble in the past. But I own these keychains
and I can take them apart if I want. I just have to remember not to take other people's things apart. Once I had finished pliering there were a lot of small bits, and I didn't take everything down to the smallest part either. Some bits can be kept for other uses and some parts should get tossed in the trash. I didn't keep the labels or those little half circles of metal, which are the rings that hold everything
together. They are pretty much trash but some one might get some use out of them. There's a good usable key ring left, some metal swivels and a tiny bit of chain. The two plastic pieces saying LEGO and Harry Potter might have some use. Don't know what yet. Once you have some element and the thought of it starts perculating around in the old noggin some idea might germinate from the
fact that part is laying in a box on a shelf. After you take all the dangly bits off the figure you have a usable figure, except for the silver colored ring sticking out the top of her, or his, head. You can snap that off with the plier. I did that. Once you get to that point you can pull off the head. The picture of the two Hermione's shows the difference in pulling the head off and removing the metal rod that sticks up, and leaving the head in place. If you don't remove the metal rod then you can't stick another head on the Hermione keychain body. Once
you pull off the head there is a hole in the top of the hair, which the metal rod kind of covers up. Anyway, you might have to pull pretty hard on the head. The head and the hair are glued together. I did take one apart and the glue is mostly where the head's stud joins the hair. The stud broke off and you couldn't do much but reglue it. Once the head comes off there is a metal rod sticking out of the neck. That's what is keeping you from putting another head on that body.
The whole torso is glued together. You can remove the arms and hands. I didn't try that hard to get it apart and I could not pull out the rod using my hands. I might be able to with a vise to hold the figure. I don't have one at home, so I just broke off the metal rod at the neck line. That's when I discovered the hole in Hermione's head. That might be fixable with some Sculpy, if it's worth the bother. Even without the head you've got a Gryffindor body that you can stick Hermoine's head back onto or you can use it for another character. It's really just a sweater with a red and gold tie. There are a lot of possible options for that
outfit besides a Hogwarts setting. The Dumbledore torso has some interesting markings. Says Uniform to me. Sand blue is a bit light but you can always change the pants. Marching band member or a doorman. With out the beard, and a dress, Dumbledore's face could be a the face of an older woman, with her cute little glasses. His long gray hair works well with the face.
