That's Roy Cook's Minnesota State Capitol on the left and the Cathedral of St. Paul on the right. He did them for the Cathedral Heritage Foundation and the Minnesota Historical Society. They are using them to raise money for the current renovation of those old buildings. They were on display outside the LEGO store in the Mall of America. It was pretty sunny day and there is some amount of glare. I took a bunch of pictures and these are a few of the better ones. I'll pass a copy of them to Roy and he can put some more up on his blog or somewhere. The buildings are going to the Landmark Center for a bit then to the State Fair. You can see a schedule on the TwinLUG site.
I liked the golden statues on top of the front of the Capitol. It's all about the farmers. There a nice dome too. It all comes apart on a series of baseplates and it's not glued. 20,000 or bricks each. Weight unknown. Those were a few of the questions Roy was fielding so far that morning. I left to eat after a while and go to a LEGO sale.
The dome on this one is much neater. I like the yellow cross a lot. That's Roy and some glare. Not the most flattering picture, but what are you gonna do. It's all I got.
That's the top of the LEGO store and the ceiling of the center of the mall. It's one big sky light.
