Two crappy picks today. I'm still feedin' off the dvdr's and the next two science fiction movies up were the 1988 remake of Not Of This Earth and 1962 Italian Planets Against Us. Jim Wynorski made a bet he could remake the 1957 Roger Corman film Not Of This Earth for the same amount of money that Roger had. Adjusted for inflation it was $210,000. According to the IMDb the gross was about $107K. Maybe they made some money on the video sales over the years. I didn't buy the dvd that was already out, I already had a vhs tape that I copied to dvdr. It looks pretty poor but I still can't see spending some money on this movie. It's pretty awful but not interesting enough to make up for that. The new dvd out from Shout Factory has a Jim Wynorski commentary from an earlier dvd and a new one with Lords and Wynorski. Many of 
Corman's films are coming out in new packages, some of them double features. We just watched the new edition of Galaxy Of Terror the other week. Some of the footage from that movie, and several others, is in Wynorski's Not Of This Earth. It's used to establish the alien coming to earth. I guess all that reused footage helps keep the cost down. Some alien guy shows up from another planet. He's collecting blood for his dying world. He shoots beams out of his eyes and people collapse. Then he pumps blood from their bodies. Tracy is the nurse at a clinic. The alien shows up there looking to get some blood. The doctor, worried about the lack of blood in the guy, assigns Tracy to his new patient. She goes to stay at alien guy's house. hope she's getting some over time. This is Tracy's first film after quiting the adult industry. It's the first and last nudity she did in a non-adult film. Lot of people seem to like the movie just for that. I'm not so chuffed about it. Tracy's nice enough but the movie is still pretty stinky to sit through for some boobies. The alien figures out he can bring hookers home and drain them. He brings a trio with huge scarey fake boobies into his house. The girls are also the worst actresses in the film.
There's some other characters, Tracy's cop boyfriend, a goofy chauffer and a hippy space alien, who help contribute to the mess. Kelli Maroney plays another nurse. I just watched her last week in Night Of The Comet. The alien kills a few more people and then is vanquished. Now I won't need to watch that again for a dozen years. Maybe never.
Since I can't always trust my memory I should make a list of movies that I shouldn't bother to watch again. I would add Planets Against Us. I have a copy from the Sy-Fy Channel back when it had it's original name. It doesn't look good but it's another movie that deserves no money from me. Some aliens take the survivor of a plane crash and make robot copies of him to invade the earth. It doesn't work very well. It's originally titled I pianeti contro di noi which sounds cooler some how. Sadly what's on the screen is pretty poor even for 1962. There isn't much about it on the Internet. Not too surprizing. Some other folks liked it more or less than I did. Here's a guy who spent way more time talking about the movie than I will. It scores a rather high 3.8 on the IMDb.
