I finally got around to watching Confessions Of A Vice Baron. Willy Costello is on death row and he stops before he goes off to the electric chair to tell us his sad sordid life story in a series of flashbacks. That's him over there on the right. He's been in the vice business, corrupting girls, murdering people, and it's finally caught up with him. The flashbacks are all clips from other Willy Costello movies from the same producer, Willis Kent.
He starts in one town where he's introduced to the abortion business. Many young girls died trying to get rid of their babies through scumbags who didn't care if the girls lived or died. Some of the girls had their babies and unscrupulous doctors sold them to people who needed babies, even if the girls wanted them. When things got too hot Willy moves to another town and takes another name. His goons kidnap girls and Willy sells them to protitution rings. That sort of thing is still going on today, right here in the USA, but hardly anyone talks about it. It's a low budget cheapy but it's pretty entertaining in it's skid row sordidness. There's even some nudity, unusual for a 1943 movie. Worth a gander for it's unusal fare and place in cinema history.
I downloaded the DIVX version of BloodSpell and watched that earlier today. It's a computer generated fantasy movie made with the game Neverwinter Nights. It's got some pretty poor graphics, it's fan produced, and kind of annoying at times. There's a website you can download or watch the movie and some previous episodes. People can do magic when they cut themselves and spill their blood. The Church of the Angels hunts the blood mages down. When a young priest discovers he has the power he goes ont he run and there's plenty of that before it ends. There's an annoying punk like soundtrack too. I would mention it be it's rather unique. Watch at your own risk.
