The Nut Farm is a 1935 movie with Wallace Ford who's playing an aspiring actor. His sister and her husband move out to LA to buy a nut farm and the wife gets hooked up with some phoney movie people. They fool her and the husband into giving them the farm money to make a movie with the wife. It's up to Wallace to try to get their money back. It's pretty funny and kind of dumb at the same time.
Palooka is a 1934 movie based on the comic strip by Ham Fisher. Stuart Erwin plays Joe Palooka and he comes to the city to make his fortune boxing. He gets involved with Jimmmy Durante a less than honest fight manager. There's some romance and lots more fighting time than I care for. One I would only need to see once.
The Perils Of Pauline is a 1947 Betty Hutton film. It's movie about the silent film star Pearl White who played Pauline in the serials of the early days of Hollywood. She had a career on the stage and moved into films when there wasn't much stage work one summer. She had a natural talent for stunts and did all sorts of dangerous falls and action scenes. The damage to her body lasted longer than her career and she eventually drank herself to death in France. It's kind of a sad end to her life that didn't get put in the movie. It's not very accurate but it's worth a gander if you've got a bit of time to waste.
The Rage Of Paris is a 1938 Douglas Fairbanks Jr comedy about a young woman who is broke. She tries to marry a rich guy with the help of her friend but it doesn't go as planned. French actress Danielle Darrieux plays the young woman. It's a nice fairly entertaining screwball comedy and comes recommended highly.
