The second season of Due South proved to be about as entertaining as the first season. Most of the same characters are back. Paul Gross as RCMP Officer Benton Frazer, David Marciano is Ray Vecchio and Lincoln is Diefenbaker. There are 18 shows on three disc in this set. It's pretty cheap on Amazon. Even the whole 3 season set is under 20 bucks. Mind you they cram too much on the discs and the quality is only so-so. Benton is living in Chicago and working as a guard at the Canadian Embassy. He hardly spends much time there. Mostly he's hanging out with Ray at the police station. Ray's a detective and there are a bunch of regular characters there. Camilla Scott plays RCMP Inspector Meg Thatcher is several episodes. She becomes a regular cast member in the third series. Gordon Pincent returns as Benton's dead father. Ramona Milano plays Ray's sister Francesca. She has a thing for Benton but he's not really interested.
North has Ray and Frazer in a hijacked plane in the NorthWest Territories. It crashes and Frazer gets blinded. He'll be ok, or he will be if Ray can get them out of the wilderness alive.
In Vault Ray and Frazer, having survived the first episode, return home to find Ray has been declared dead. Then they get locked up in a bank vault during a robbery. They have the most fun life.
Witness has Ray tossed in jail for contempt of court. Frazer gets himself tossed into jail to keep an eye on Ray. He's a nutty guy, that Frazer. Steve Smith, who plays Red Green, has a small part in the episode.
Bird in the Hand has Frazer bring in the man who killed his father while some men are hunting them.
The Promise has Frazer trying to save some kids who found a notebook a crook dropped. The crooks are after them.
Mask is about some native masks that get stolen from a museum. Frazer and a Shaman work together to get them back to the right people.
Juliet is Bleeding has Ray go up against a local mob boss. Ray used to have something going with the mob bosses sister. Carrie Ann Moss guests.
One Good Man, aka Thank You Kindly, Mr. Capra is about Frazer taking down his corrupt landlord. Maria Bello guest stars.
The Edge puts Frazer's survival abilities to the test when a dangerous assassin comes a callin.
We Are the Eggmen has Frazer break up an insurance fraud.
Starman has Frazer and ray get mixed up with a guy who claims his fiancee was abducted by aliens. That guy was really annoying. I would give him to the aliens. I would pay aliens to take him. You probably know that kind of guy. Amanda Tapping is the guest.
Some Like it Red has Frazer dressing up as a woman so he can go undercover in a school.
White Men Can't Jump to Conclusions has Ray arrest a guy for a shooting. Ray and Frazer believe the guy is taking the blame for someone else.
All the Queen's Horses features the Mounties from the RCMP Musical Ride. The train they are travelling on is hijacked by terrorists. Frazer and Buck Frobisher (Leslie Neilsen) have to stop them. Bucks in the RCMP and he was Frazer's father's partner.
Body Language has Ray in the middle of a fight between rival mobsters who want to control the strip club business. Milton Berle plays a smallish part as a resturant owner.
The Duel has Ray up against a guy he bust in the past. He's out of prison and he's a tough nut to crack.
Red, White, or Blue finishes the story started in All The Queen's Horses. The terrorist is on trial and his vengeful family comes a hunting them some Frazer.
Flashback has Frazer get hurt chasing some thieves. He can't remember anything. Ray shows him clips from previous episodes. This was going to be the last show after CBS pulled the plug. The show would come back for two shorter 13 episode seasons that were shown in the US as the 3rd season.
I still am enjoying the series. The stories are a nice mix of comedy, drama and fantasy. I mean the guy's got a dead dad on the show. I do enjoy Gordon Pincent as the dad. Is he a ghost, or a figment of Frazer's mind? Doesn't matter, makes me laugh. TV, movies, plays, poems, all sorts of media have long had relationships with the dead. There's some action, mostly about average for tv. The characters are entertaining and mostly likable. The poor quality of the dvd isn't bad enough to make me unhappy. The US 3rd season dvd set has both seasons on it. I have that from Amazon and will watch it soon.
