Looper is a 2012 time travel film with Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jeff Daniels and Emily Blunt. Joseph plays the younger Bruce. It's 2044 and the criminals are pretty much in charge of Kansas City in this crappy future. Joseph narrates the movie and he tells us that time travel will be invented in 30 years but made illegal. The criminals have access to illegal time travel and they use it to dispose of bodies by sending them 3o years into the past. There, special assassins called Loopers, kill the victims and dispose of the bodies. Joseph is a Looper and he blasts the hooded men who show up on the sheet in a a cornfield. He gets paid from the future too. There are silver bars strapped to the dead guy's back. If you get a stack of gold bars that means you've just killed your future self and you got a 30 year retirement ahead of you before they come for you. Joseph is a drug addict with a shallow existence hanging out with other Loopers and prostitutes. One day he pops up on the sheet and he has to kill himself. His failure starts a chain of events that change the future. Or some such nonsense. The whole premise creates many unanswered questions. The most obvious is, why send them back to be killed by hand in a field? You could send them back in time to the bottom of the ocean or the middle of the furnace that Joseph dumps the bodies in. I know, there would be no movie. There's a fair bit of action but there's a lot of yakking and the movie plods along at times. Eventually, there's an ending and the story ends. Not one I would need to pick up.
Aliens In The Attic was something I picked up from the library on a whim. Joe said he had seen it, thought it was fun, so we watched that. Joe had brought the Blu-Ray of Embrace Of The Vampire but Oppo said no. Aliens In The Attic is a 2009 movie that is aimed at the younger crowd. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Kevin Nealon takes his family on vacation. He joins his brother and his family at a big old rental cottage on a lake. Their mom, Doris Roberts, joins them. There are a bunch of kids and they're the ones that first discover the invading aliens. Four little ships show up and one hits the satellite dish. When the kids go up to the attic to check on the dish they find the aliens up there and the action starts. It's fun for the most part, there are plenty of jokes and sight gags. The sets are nice and the CGI aliens are pretty good. It moves along fairly well and has a pretty good ending. I would watch it again.
