Cockneys Vs Zombies is a 2012 British educational film about helping your Grandpa escape the forth coming zombie holocaust. James Moran is the writer. He wrote some Torchwood and Doctor Who episodes and the movie Severance. He does a good job with the story and the dialog is entertaining. The director is Matthias Hoene and he also does well for his first movie. The setting is London's East End and the story is about a couple of brothers who decide to rob a bank. They want the cash to stop the developers from tearing down their grandfather's retirement home. They really aren't criminals, though their parents were, and so was gramps. They get a gang together and rob the bank at the exact time that the zombie plague breaks out. Due to a coincidence they wind up with 2.5 million bucks and the police outside waiting. While they dither in the bank the police are slaughtered by the zombie horde. The gang runs off to see if the brother's grandfather is still alive. They find him trapped with other seniors and rescue them. There's a bit of a chase to the river where they get on a boat and escape. There's plenty of humor and some action. The blood is often CGI and it's not much better than it usually is on something like The Walking Dead. That's a minor complaint, there's plenty of other stuff to be likin'. The actors are good and they seem to be enjoying the parts. Hard to tell with the Zombies, they lack so much. Be sure to keep an eye out for Richard Briers and Honor Blackman among the retires. Nice to see them working so hard ... killin' zombies. Worth watching for the zombie fan what likes a bit of a laugh along with his slaughter and one I would watch again.
Our second feature was the 1961 TinTin live action film TinTin And The Mystery Of The Golden Fleece. I's already posted about getting the British Film Institute DVD from the UK and it's that we watched. Of everyone there Greg was the most excited to see it. He's a big TinTin fan too. I enjoyed watching it for the 3rd time and hope to see it more in the future.
