The 8th series of Midsomer Murders started airing in late 2004 and there were 8 episodes over the next year. I use the series listings from the Wikipedia but others don't. John Nettles is DCI Tom Barnaby, John Hopkins is Sgt Daniel Scott, Jane Wyman is Joyce Barnaby and Laura Howard is Cully Barnaby.
Things That Go Bump in the Night October 10 2004 An undertaker is found dead in his chapel. Suspicion falls on the local spiritualist church, the man's ex-business partner, a handyman and a retiree who likes the ladies.
Dead in the Water October 17 2004 A dead guy is found in the river during the Midsomer Regatta. There's plenty of suspects for Tom and Gavin to sift through.
Orchis Fatalis January 9 2005 The Midsomer Malham Orchid Society's annual show is the focus of the story. A rare orchid is the cause of a series of murders. Tom finds clues in the diary of a naughty scholar.
Bantling Boy January 16 2005 One of the owners of a race horse is killed when he refuses to sell his share. Other owners fall like dominoes.
Second Sight January 23 2005 A man dies after a fight with his brother in-law. Scars on his head lead Tom and Gavin to a man researching second sight.
Hidden Depths March 13 2005 A suicide turns out to be murder as the investigation uncovers some dodgy deals.
Sauce for the Goose April 3 2005 There's murder in a relish factory when a naked dead man is found in the sterilizer.
Midsomer Rhapsody October 2 2005 A music teacher is murdered and a manuscript for a piece of music is stolen. Murder follows as it changes hands.
The level of writing continues to be superb, the mysteries are entertaining and the detection spot on. There are plenty of wonderful characters and interesting murders. Luckily for me the library has the whole series and I can watch them on dvd. The versions on YouTube are mostly pretty good.
