Barbarians

Barbarians was a program on the History Channel back in 2007. I didn't see them when they came out, I got the 4 disc set from the library. Each of the tribes gets a 43 minute program that's got a lot of historical reenactments. There's narration and some scholarly talking heads to tell you a brief history of each tribe featured in the episode. Most of those ancient men sure were douchebags that killed and pillaged for their own personal gain or the god of their religions. They build empires that last until the next wave of fighting tears things apart. Occasionally something good will come out of it but for the average guy on the farm in the path of one of these hordes there wasn't much hope of survival. If you were a woman you might get raped and murdered or made into a slave. You can see the series on YouTube if you care. I didn't think it was as good a series as the documentary series on the Vikings I had seen a couple of weeks ago but it was still fairly informative and entertaining. Sure doens't seem like much has changed.
