Terry Jones' Barbarians 2006 documentary was listed in the library's catalog so I put it on my list and it came the other day. It's a 4 episode look at what pieces of shit the Roman's were. I'm not big Roman fan, in their desire to conqueror the world they destroyed much knowledge and then wrote the history to make them look less like the dicks they were. The Barbarians mentioned in the series title are just about anyone who wasn't Roman. I would have rather hung out with the Picts, Goth or Vandals than the Romans. Terry travels about Europe and the Middle East to look at the places that the history happened so there's plenty of interesting scenery. There's a nice bunch of interviews with scholars and scientists that help Terry tell about the advances that the barbarians made. Much of the information is more recent that when I learned that history in school. I found it interesting and entertaining. You can see the episodes on YouTube. Here are some links.
