Earth To Echo is a 2014 science fiction kids movie about some teens who find an alien and help him get back to his spaceship. One of the kids in an amateur film maker who keeps his cameras rolling while they have their adventure. It's his footage, all edited together, with plenty of effects added, that we see. People call it found footage but it wasn't ever lost. It starts after a few days after people in the neighborhood experience some weird problems with their cell phones. The smart but whimpy kid of the trio figures out a clue from the phones and it leads them to the alien in his pod. It's been blasted by the government who are out looking for the pieces. The kids have to peddle pretty hard to keep ahead of the Feds. There's plenty of action and jokes. I liked the kids and the story is ok. It made me laugh and I'd want to see I again sometime.
I wouldn't be as excited to see The Great Space Voyage again. It's a 1975 Russian science fiction kids film about some teens who go on a space voyage. The three 13 year olds are on the ship with one adult who gets quarantined to his room for 45 days. During that time they have a series of troubles to get past. There isn't much about the film online but you can see it for free at the link above. It's entertaining enough and I liked the kids. The translation might not be the greatest but you get the gist of the story. It's not great but I enjoyed it well enough. We all got a laugh or two but they weren't laughs from jokes. I wouldn't feel I need to go buy a copy.
Add The Holywood Reporter to the list of websites run by assholes who treat their visitors with contempt. A link popped up in my Google search claiming that THR had material about the movie. When I got to the site there was nothing there to see. I did have to sit through the first part of a really noisey video before I could even go to the site. I don't like those videos that run on sites as it is and this is another step forward in assholishness. Mind you, it wasn't a place that I really ever went ot regularily, so it won't be anything I'm missing now. I know YouTube and Hulu have ads you have to sit through but at least they have a payoff when you get past the ad. I usually watch YouTube videos in VLC player so I don't have to watch the ads.
