Poor Dad's Army was another victim of the BBC ass wipes who wiped the video tapes that the show was recorded on. Some were recovered and they appear on the DVDs. There's still three episodes missing from the second series. The BBC released a radio series of the program and they include the radio versions of the missing episodes on the DVD. The complete radio series is available on CD but they are about 5 times more expensive than the complete DVD series.
Series 2 consisted of 6 episodes and they first aired in October and November of 1969. In Operation Kilt we almost find out what's under a Scotsman's kilt but the BBC was too chicken to show it. The platoon sets up a machine gun nest in a cottage. There's plenty of mess made but no on gets shot. James Best is a black market spiv and the platoon is worried when he gets a call up letter for the regular army. Where will they get their cigarettes and liquor? Lucky for the guys it turns out James is allergic to corned beef so he stays at home. It's all pretty good fun and plenty of gags and slapstick. Even the three episodes that were radio shows played out just fine. Not as good as watching them but I was able to run about and get a few chores done while listening to them.
