I missed getting a copy of 40123 Thanksgiving Feast when I was at the LEGO store the other week. According to Tom, one of the henchmen at the store, the set has sold out. That's too bad, I might have gotten one. I was more dismayed to learn that the free Christmas Train has dried up. So, I could have picked up one of the 40123 Thanksgiving Feast for a 10 spot but I opted to pick up 40125 Santa's Visit instead. It won't matter in the long run, I have most of those parts, I can always download the instructions and build my own. I won't. 40123 has 158 parts and that makes them just under 7 cents each with the tax added. Not a bad deal and many of those parts are good ones for me.
It makes a nice vignette but that cart is massive. As you can see from the cover of the Instruction booklet, the top of the cart is about Grampa's shoulder height. How does he get that turkey from the cart to the table? I'll never know, I haven't got a set. I downloaded the instructions off of Brickset but they weren't any help. Neither is the set's description nicked from Brickset.

They call them mom and pop but I suspect they could be grandparents. Both of their heads have been used in 10 other sets. 40123 is the only set the two heads appear together. Her torso has been in 5 other sets and his in 16 other sets. I know I have both of them already. Red legs have appeared in 206 other sets and the dark blay legs has appeared in 159 other sets. Her hair in one other set and his in 9 other sets. Good parts usage. It's all about making that mold payoff.
That almost looks like clues to something. I do like the pie, there's a turkey too, a pitchfork, a bottle and a couple of stemmed glasses, silver metallic 1x1 round tiles, an orange minifig head and that dark red leaf to name a few of my highlights. It's a nice eclectic mix of stuff that would be good for any builder. It might be one of those sets that a person could have two or four of and add a nice lot of cheaper than average parts to their collection. I'm a great believer in buying multiples of some sets.
