I watched the first series of Bron/Broen, the 2011 Swedish/Danish production that was remade in the US as The Bridge. There were way more requests for the original at the library, I got the US a while ago, this just showed up last Friday.
In the original they are talking about the Oresund Bridge. It spans the sea and carries people between Copenhagen and Malmö. In the middle of the night the lights on the bridge go out. When they come on there's a dead body on the bridge. The body of a woman turns out to be two halfs and two different people. The two cop main characters meet at the site and then get assigned to work the case because one half of the body came from Sweden and the other Denmark.
Sofia Helin is Saga Norén, the lead homicide detective from Malmö and Kim Bodnia is Martin Rohde, the lead homicide detective from Copenhagen. She's got her issues and he's got a bunch of his own. Most of the 10 hours series is spent on that. In fact it's Martin's sleeping around that causes the chain of events that kills so many people. I didn't care for all the melodrama of their lives and psycho killers are less appealing as time goes along. I started skipping some of the less appealing parts with the fast forward. I'm debating not bothering with the second series. I read the synopsis on the Wikipedia and it looked like more melodrama and murderous scum. Nice bridge though, the longest in Europe, 5 miles.
