Abbot And Costello's 23rd film for Universal Pictures was Comin' Round The Mountain. It was their 2nd film for 1951. Charles Lamont continues to direct the guys films. The script was by Robert Lees and Frederic Riedel. The guys would follow this film with another non Universal film, this one produced in color by Lou's company Exclusive Productions, called Jack In The Beanstalk.
It's hillbilly all the way down as Bud and Lou wind up in Kentucky. Lou's the long lost grandson of Squeeze Box McCoy. The McCoy's have a feud with the local Winfield clan. There's plenty of gun shooting and yeehawin' as the boy get filled in about the lost gold Squeeze Box had hidden. Granny McCoy will reveal the clues to Lou since he's kin. The only problem is that Lou needs to marry before the clues are revealed. That leads to more complications that need to get worked out with bullets and corn liquor. They do find the gold but it wasn't lost in the first place. Glenn Strange, who played the Frankenstein's Monster in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, plays one of the Winfield clan and Margaret Hamilton plays the local witch with the love potion that gets everyone in trouble. More of the usual goofiness and joke upon joke. I enjoyed this one too. I'm going to watch Jack In The Beanstalk next.
