Laughter In The Dark is an awful movie about a guy who falls for a young woman and dumps his wife so he can be screwed over by the young woman and her boyfriend. It's based on a Vladimir Nabokov novel with a screenplay by Edward Bond and it's directed by Tony Richardson. None of these are creators that I would normally be interested in. Richardson had directed The Loved One and that is about the only movie of his I actually would watch again.
Nicol Williamson plays the guy and Anna Karina plays the young woman. In the novel she's supposed to be a 16 year old but Anna was actually 29 when the movie was made. I don't remember anyone saying how old she was. Nicol turns into a typical think with his wiener type when Anna comes into his life. He destroys his whole world with that thinking and winds up blind before he dies. I don't even feel sorry for him. If he couldn't see what a money sucking creep that young girl was he deserves to be destroyed. Too bad his family and friends had put up with it all. The movie hasn't been released on DVD for some reason. It's crap? You can see it in the link above. Not sure why you would want to but the option is there.
