I'm really knocking these out, nothing better to do, too cold to go outside much. Disc 5 of Pure Terror has four more movies. This time I hadn't seen the second and fourth movies on the single sided disc.
Death Warmed Up is an Australian movie that was released in 1984. David Blyth is the director and he co-wrote the script with Michael Heath. It's about a kid who gets hypnotized by a psychiatrist to kill his parents. He grows up and wants some revenge. Michael Hurst, who played Iolaus on Hercules, plays the grown up kid. There's not much to recommend about it.
Frankenstein 80 is a 1972 Italian movie that revisits the Frankenstein story. It's not very good nor exciting. A scientist invents a serum to stop tissue rejection. It's stolen by a mad doctor who wants to make himself a man. The man made man goes bonkers and kills women. Kind of sad for the most part. It reduces the Frankenstein novel to a single "Uugghh!" There isn't any reason to see it either. I almost wish I hadn't wasted the time on it but you never know what will happen until you finish. I'll bet I won't bother with this one. There are so many better Frankenstein movies out there, I won't miss not seeing this one again. It's a good reminder to watch the Karloff film again.
The House By The Cemetery is a 1981 Lucio Fulci film that I had seen before. I'm not a fan of his work.
Death In The Shadows is a 1985 Dutch film. A young woman's mother is killed by a hit and run. In the autopsy it's found that the woman could not had had a child. Who is the young woman that thinks she's the dead woman's daughter. The spend the rest of the movie trying to find out. On the way someone tries to kill her, more than once. The police and her boyfriend try to help her and catch the real killer. It wasn't too bad, it gets a 5 on the IMDb and that's about right. It's more a murder mystery than a horror film and it has a fairly interesting path to a rather mundane mystery. Just another dick stealing some money. Still, you don't get to see many Dutch films and that's a nice change.
Not a very good average in the lot. I might watch the last one over but none too soon.
