Here's a 2010 Spanish Lovecraft inspired horror film that was on Amazon Prime. The Valdemar Legacy is only part of the story and it ends with a big fuck you "To be continued" banner at the end and AP doesn't offer the sequel. And apparently, that's where all the Cthulhu action is. Reviews of part 2 aren't too positive, so that's big fuck off to AP and the film makers. There's not much reason to stretch that skimpy story out over two films. It's moody and the like, but with some sad and cheap looking CGI monsters. The make up effects are pretty good but everything is so digitally tweaked sometimes you can't tell. There's a nice house and location. The cast is fine, I liked the guy playing Aleister Crowley. He comes into the movie when he helps a guy out of jail. He believes Mr Valdemar has powers to call up spirits. It's one of those movies that toss in some real people who lived at the time of the story. On the big night of the summoning Aleister's guests include Bram Stoker, Belle Gunnes and Lizzie Borden. The summoning goes wrong and a demon gets out. It screws around a bit then the movie stops. Don't waste your time.
