More detecting in the Caribbean Sea. The 4th Series of Death In Paradise has 8 episodes and they aired in January and February 2015. Kris Marshall plays DI Humphrey Goodman, a British fish out of water, who came to the show at the start of the 3rd series to investigate the death of his predecessor. Danny John-Jules plays Officer Dwayne Meyers. He's the only one who's been in all episodes so far. Sara Martins plays Detective Sergeant Camile Bordey. She leaves the show at the end of the 4th episode this series. Sadly for Humphrey as he had fallen for her. There's a new officer as Joséphine Jobert joins the show as Sergeant Florence Cassel. She gets a bump up when Camile leaves the show and Tobi Bakare joins the cast to play Officer JP Hooper.
That's Joséphine, Kris, Danny and Tobi in the picture above. The show has the usual set up and murder, then some detecting and the denouement at the end with all the suspects in a room. There's some character stuff with the regulars as they work through the cases. A few critics have claimed they don't care for the formula but the public seems to like it. It keeps getting more and more viewers on average with each series. The 4th series had an average of about 8 million viewers up from the 5 million that they were getting in the first series.
I found the first three series to be fun and entertaining and this one about the same. I like the characters and the scripts are good. The cases are varied enough, they start with an intro of the parties involved and end up with all them in a room with Humphrey pointing the finger at the murderer. There's plenty of nice scenery with Guadeloupe filling in for the fictional island of Saint Marie. I'll be looking forward to seeing new shows sometime.
