The 6th film in the Doctor Series is called Doctor In Clover and it came out March 4th 1966 in the UK. It came out in August 1967 in the US under the title Carnaby MD. Richard Gordon wrote the novel that Jack Davies adapted and Ralph Thomas returns for the 6th time as series director.
Leslie Phillips also returns to the series, this time as a different doctor than in Doctor In Love, but pretty much the same character. Leslie's career started in 1939, at age 15, and his last credit was from 2012. He's been in a huge number of movies and TV episodes, much of which I haven't seen. In reading his credits I had forgotten that Leslie was the voice of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter series until he mentioned it on the DVD commentary. Joining Leslie in Doctor In Clover were James Robertson Justice, Shirley Anne Field, John Fraser, Joan Sims, Arthur Haynes, Fenella Fielding, Jeremy Lloyd, Noel Purcell, Robert Hutton, Eric Barker, Norman Vaughan, Terry Scott, Alfie Bass, Suzan Farmer, Alexandra Bastedo, Jack Smethurst and several more I didn't know.
The story is pretty much like the other Doctor films, a bit of romance, a bit of medicine and a bit of comedy. I got a few laughs but I don't find Leslie's Dr Grimsdyke as interesting a lead as I did Dirk Bogarde playing the lead. He's less a doctor and more of a quack. Certainly he's less sympathetic.
