Doctor In Love is the 4th of the 7 Doctor films. It came out in 1960 and it stars Michael Craig, James Robertson Justice, Leslie Phillips, Carole Lesley, Joan Sims, Liz Frazer, Virginia Maskell, Peter Sallis, Nicholas Phipps, Joan Hickson, and a whole bunch more. Nicholas Phipps and Ralph Thomas return as writer and director. Producer Betty Box said, at the time the movie was made, that Dirk's current fee was the same as the cost of the film's whole cast. The movie was the big hit of 1960.
Michael plays Dr Hare and Leslie plays Dr Burke. Hare has recently graduated and taken a post. He meets a new love of his life when the head Doctor takes a holiday to California. Hare's old flame comes back into his life. Dr Burke comes to work at the practice and causes some havoc.
James Robertson Justice appears in all 7 of the Doctor films. He's the only one to do that according to Robert Ross on the commentary. He plays Dr Lancelot Spratt and he retires from St Swithin's Hospital. Dr Hare gets him back working again with the help of a sick boy. Dr Hare finds his true love and Dr Burke manages not to kill the man on the operating table. It was about the same as the rest of them. There's some silly things going on, some romance, some knocking about and I got a few laughs. The visit to the strip club was fun.
