The LEGO Batman Movie was our first pick. It was fun, lots of noise and action, with a bit too much yakkin' at times. I didn't think it was as good as The LEGO Movie from a few years ago but I laughed and had a good time anyway. I bought the Blu-ray at Target and got a cute Batgirl Minifig as a premium. The voice cast was good for the most part and the animation is busy and bright. There are plenty of in-jokes and little sight gags. The story is about the relationship between Batman and the Joker. It got a bit melodramatic and I thought it could have been trimmed out. I'd still watch it again some time. I'm not much interested in the Batman LEGO sets out for the movie, too many vehicles, but I did buy the Batman Minifigure set.
Enter The Warriors Gate is a 2016 French Chinese movie that was co-written by Luc Besson. Luc's co-writer was Robert Mark Kamen who wrote the Karate Kid series, the Transporter series, the Taken series and The Fifth Element. It's directed by Matthias Hoene who's previous movie was Cockneys Vs Zombies. It's a pretty much by the numbers action comedy with a young American teen thrown into an imaginary China of 2-300 years ago. It's mix of martial arts, magic and video games. The fights were better than the comedy. There are some cringe worthy jokes. We got through it and no one thought they needed to go buy a copy.
