Mongolian Death Worm is SyFy production and it aired in 2010. I missed seeming it somehow and relied on Netflix for some more self inflicted wounds to my brain. It's pretty much a giant monster worm attacking folks in an oil field in Mongolia. Director Steven R Monroe wrote the script with Neil Elman and Kevin Leeson. It hardly seems like three men worked on it. It's lacking a hat trick of imagination, that's for sure. Maybe one of them just made coffee and the other guy brought donuts? I don't know. Steven directed several other films but I'm not sure I've seen any of them.
As you can see the worm in the movie isn't quite as terrifying as the worm on the poster. It is pretty large there, but not all of the worms are that size. Sean Patrick Flanery plays a treasure hunter who's a bit on the shady side. He takes some cash to drive a couple of doctors who want to go to a Mongolian village that's has some illness from the giant worms contaminating their water. Of course, Sean has a problem with the local warlord, so, there are worms and a baddie to keep their trip interesting. Mind you the film never gets that interesting, even with a good number of worm attacks and a CGI explosion or two. There's not much reason to see the movie, pass a bit of time, maybe, see a giant monster, possibly, otherwise, time to move on.
I did learn that there were alleged Mongolian Death Worms living in the desert, though not as big as the movie's worm, and that they have appeared in books and movies since 1926. Read more at the Wikipedia. If you have a bit of spare cash, pass them a few bucks. I know I do.
