Two In Clover is a British TV series with Sid James and Victor Spinetti. The first series was in B&W and the 7 episodes aired in 1969, the second series was in color and the 6 episodes aired in 1970. I don't remember ever seeing it but not all British shows aired in Canada. I'd seen Sid in some of the Carry On... films and I'd also seen episodes of Sid's sitcom Bless This House. I watched that back in Winnipeg in the 70s and I've downloaded a set from YouTube to check out again. Just finding the time is the problem.
The show was written by Vince Powell and Harry Driver and produced and directed by Alan Tarrant. Powell and Driver created 11 different sitcoms for ITV over the years and wrote for several more. All I've seen is Bless This House. but I found a few others on YouTube, like an earlier Sid series called George And The Dragon. That series was also by Powell and Driver.
Sid and Victor are room mates in a flat in the city. They decide that country life is for them and they buy a run down farm. The guys are willing to be a bit shady at first but that backfires on them. In fact much of what they do backfires on them. There are some amount of gags and such but it's all pretty low key comedy with some small amount of physical comedy mixed in. I laughed once in awhile but not too much out loud. I enjoyed the show but it won't be in my top 20 Brit shows, that's for sure. Not sorry to have bought it, it was only 8 or 9 bucks, I'd think I might get around to it again someday.
