It's back to 2004 for the 5th series of Top Gear. There's 9 regular episodes and a best of series made up of footage from series #4 & 5. Jeremy Clarkson says it's the brightest and noisiest of the series so far. Jeremy's head of hair is getting fuller and fuller, you can hardly see his bald spot. Richard Hammond hasn't nearly killed himself twice yet and James May can't get a pair of pants that fit.
There's the usual car testing on the Top Gear test track and in places around the UK. They do get to Germany when Clarkson tries to drive a diesel Jaguar S-Type, around the Nürburgring in under ten minutes. Then Sabine Schmitz does it better.
There are plenty of goofy things going on, the guys jump an ice cream van over 4 bouncy castles, minivan races a mountain-boarder, Hammond and May spend 24 hours in a smart car, a game of conkers with caravans smashes them together with cranes, then it's Hammond in a bobsled against James in a Mitsubishi down a hillside.
Stars in the Reasonably Priced Car include Bill Bailey, Geri Halliwell, Joanna Lumley, Jimmy Carr, Christian Slater, Billy Baxter, Cliff Richard, Roger Daltrey, Trinny and Susannah, and Eddie Izzard.
Plenty of entertaining Top Gear stuff. I only wish they had real DVDs out, the video on YouTube is watchable but it one of those framed videos with sound that's been modulated a bit.
