The Sound was our first movie, it's a 2017 Canadian film that's written and directed by Janna Mattison. Rose McGowan plays a woman who blogs about the supernatural. She investigates the sounds that come from haunted places. She doesn't believe the supernatural exists. She goes into an abandoned subway and some weird shit happens. The Wikipedia says it's psychological thriller but it wasn't much thrilling or anything. It takes a long time to get to the end and I didn't like the movie much. I wouldn't need to see it again.
Necromancy is said to be Bert I Gordon's best movie. It might be, Bert directed two dozen movies and some of them are pretty dumb, Food Of The Gods, Empire Of The Ants, and The Amazing Colossal Man. I do like The Magic Sword, Tormented and The Boy And The Pirates and I know they aren't great films.
Bert wrote the script for Necromancy with Gail March. The 1972 movie was cut a bit, some nudity added, and then released on VHS in the US in 1983 as The Witching. The Blu-ray from Code Red has a version that's closer to the original film.
Michael Ontkean and Pamela Franklin are a couple who live in the city. Michael gets a job at a toy company in a small town. Orson Wells is the head of the company and he's also the head of a coven. Pamela isn't much interested in the coven but Michael gets right into it. She wants to leave but the coven won't let her. She's needed for a ritual to raise Orson's son from the dead. Pamela is going to be the sacrifice.
It's pretty much like a lot of other coven of witches movies. Poor gal trapped by evil shits. You get the idea. There's nothing new and exciting in the story. I thought the ending was a bit of a rip. It's not totally awful, you can see for yourself with a couple of versions of the film, original cinerama release and a special edition on YouTube.
