Three years after The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce return to play Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson in Sherlock Holmes And The Voice Of Terror. It's the first of the Universal Pictures Sherlock Series and they've moved Sherlock into the modern day and he's battling the Nazis. A creepy guy is broadcasting propaganda to demoralize the nation. Holmes makes it his job to put a stop to that guy.
The screenplay is by Robert Hardy Andrews and Lynn Riggs with John Rawlins directing. They turn in a decent picture with some interesting sleuthing and a good villain. Evelyn Ankers is the lady above. She's the wife of the guy who shows up on Holmes' doorstep only to die after delivering a clue, "Christopher."
The length of the Universal Pictures series pictures hardly get up to 74 minutes, most are in the mid 60s, but they still manage to pack a nice neat story into each one. The two 2oth Century Fox pictures were about 80 and 85 minutes each. Sherlock Holmes And The Voice Of Terror is only 65 minutes long. That's three down and 11 more to go. Nice that there's such a large lot of them.
