I liked The Raven. It's a 2012 film with John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe in his last days. It's all made up, of course, but I did read that Poe died mysteriously. It's written by Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare and James McTeigue is the director.
Poe investigates murders that are based on his writings. John's Poe is a noisy and moody guy who doesn't have much going for him. In the real world the end of Poe is a mystery with him being found on the street in someone else's clothes. He died 4 days later muttering the name Reynolds. The movie fills in all the blanks in a story that was entertaining enough to keep me going to the end. Others might not like Cusack's Poe in the story, it's a lot like his characters in other movies, but I'm not bothered. I don't need to get a copy now that I've seen it.
