Here's another 4 film DVD set that I picked up for about 3 bucks. Horror x 4 has four random horror films from Xenon Films last. Each movie comes on it's own disc. That's normally good but two of them are "screeners". They aren't as annoying as some I've seen, only having brief on screen messages. To me this 4 DVD set is hardly worth the 3 bucks I paid. On Amazon there are used copies that are going for $1.66, mind you the 3.99 shipping brings that up to nearly 6 bucks, new copies start at $5.89 and top out at $31.40. That last price is some insane shit but you see that on Amazon occasionally. When you're the last vendor standing, with that one item someone wants, people will pay that price. Here's the rundown of films.
Ghost Son 2007 John Hannah dies and haunts his wife. It's filmed in Zimbabwe. That's was kind of interesting but I can't say as much for the whole movie. I gave it a 4, the IMDb averages it out at a 4.5 but I wasn't enjoying it enough to score a 5. The 4 and the 5 are fighting it out for the most number of votes, 4 has 19.2% of the votes and 5 has 19.6% of the votes. If it had a better script it might get more fans.
Vlad 2003 Another version of Dracula. Three American students are in the Carpathian Mountains when they encounter Vlad. They're fucked. I was curious because it had Billy Zane and Brad Dourif in it. Both are OK but they haven't got a great script. It's the usual annoying people being picked off one by one. This one scores even lower than the first film. A 3.8 on the IMDb won't be helped any by my vote of 3, but hey, Billy and Brad can only do so much.
Headhunter 2005 Not great but they had a nice idea. They even had a bit of humor in there. A guy gets recruited by a woman who sends him to the graveyard shift for great pay. He sees all sorts of weird things going on before he stumbles on what's happening. Then it's a race to see who loses their head first. I gave it a generous 4, mostly for the guy having sex with a ghost gag. Some 14.7% of the votes are a 10 so you know they've screwed up the average. It gets a 4.8 and that's a stretch.
Reality Kills 2002 A bunch of strangers are sent to an isolated house to be in a reality TV show. There's a big prize at the end but once the killing starts that $100,000 isn't so attractive. The reality stars aren't that attractive either, moaning and dying all over the place. It scores a 3.3 but I gave it a 2, it's hardly worth that, it was so uninteresting.
Looks like I mostly wasted 3 bucks. Certainly not a keeper.
