It's just been the 20% weekend at the local Half Price Books and I picked up the two sets of the complete series of Charmed for $11.99 each. That's after the discount but before tax. They pack the 48 discs into two 24 disc packages, seasons 1-4 in the first, seasons 5-8 in the second, each season is on 6 discs. They come in a big case with a stack of hinged disc holders that float loose in the case. It's snug enough when there are enough disc holders to keep it from moving about much. I'm not a big fan of them but I'm less a fan of the paper book version of the set. The heavy cardboard that the DVDs slip in and out of often causes scratches on the DVDs. That 49 disc set is $51 on Amazon. I wonder what's on the extra disc. I do see some of the comments on Amazon about this book set are complaining that the discs are scratched and won't play. Not surprised, they let designers, that seem to lack any interest in seeing the DVDs arrive in a good state, design the packaging.
When I went to looked up the cost of the set on my phone at the store it found the $51 complete set and I didn't bother to look any further. Looking for pictures of the sets on Amazon found these two listings.
It seemed I saved over $187,000 by buying the used sets.
