Hardcore Henry is a 2015 Russian/American SF film that's shot from the POV of Henry. It's first person perspective all the way down. Especially when they're jumping off of stuff.
The cameraman is also a stuntman, he's shooting while parkouring all over the place. They used a GoPro camera rig attached to the cameraman's head and the footage looks darn good.
That's Andrei Dementiev on the left and Ilya Naishuller on the right. Ilya is the director, it's his first movie, and he's wearing the GoPro camera rig, Andrei wore it for most of the shooting. He was the second guy to fill the role of Henry, the first got severe neck pain and bowed out. Andrei got some neck pain too, and he lost a tooth. It's all pretty amazing what they did to get the shots they got.
Henry's a guy who was turned into a cyborg killing machine, he wakes in a flying lab that is soon attacked by a smarmy Euro trash guy with psychokinetic powers and creepy eyes. He's Akan, head of the Akan Company, he wants to use cyborgs like Henry for his dirty world domination schemes. Once the attack starts there's not much let up, Henry can't keep very far ahead of Akan, he gets caught and escapes, he gets caught again. He really does a good job taking out Akan's soldiers, they fall like flax at harvest. Some say the body count is 211. I'll take their word for it. There's too much shit going on to keep track.
Sharlto Copley turns up as a character named Jimmy, he keeps getting killed and then turning up a bit later. I don't know what it means but I did like the movie. Lots of interesting characters, some boobies and a high body count. It'll appeal to those that like a bit of a shoot 'em up. The effect work is quite nice for a $2 mill movie. There's no money wasted here. I liked it enough to put the Blu-ray on my Amazon list.
