In 1988 Jonathan Ross presented the first series of The Incredibly Strange Film Show. I was excited to see these episodes when they played on some cable channel back then. I had VHS copies of some of some of them for years but they looked pretty shitty. The ones on YouTube look better than the tapes I had. I've run across them once in a while on YouTube but they usually disappear after a while. Sadly they didn't get put on DVD. Jonathan has a deep seated love for the exact sort of films that I'm interested in. Jonathan's enthusiasm makes it really enjoyable to listen to him talk about the films and it's just as enjoyable when he
goes to visit film directors John Waters, Ray Dennis Steckler, Hershell Gordon Lewis, Ted V Mikels, Russ Meyer and Sam Raimi. Some of the names might not be familiar to everyone and that's fine. They aren't all film makers for the masses. Jonathan wrote a book called The Incredibly Strange Film Book. I just ordered one on eBay. I'll look forward to that down the road. Steve Nieve of Elvis Costello and The Attractions does some original music for the show. I doubt they'll be up there for any length of time so watch or download quickly.
