A Feral World 2020 Written and directed by David Liban. David's a film professor in Denver and he shot the film over 4 years. You can really see the changes in the faces of the actors.
It's a pretty typical post apocalypse film, a boy and a woman team up to try to survive, they encounter the terrible guy who invented the nanobots that destroyed most people and animals. He's got devices that keep the bots away and he wants everyone to stay with him or he'll let the bots get them. He's even got his own trained squad of nanobots. He likes being in control and murdering.
Sadly the woman finds her daughter is in the terrible guy's group. He won't let her go and he slaps a control watch on the woman and the boy. Things go on, it gets tense and the revolt that I was expecting comes along.
For a no money film the production looks pretty good, the script is fair to good, the CGI is poor to good. It dragged at times, there's a lot of walking and sitting in silence. The physical changes in actor's age was jarring at first. It made me wonder if that guy playing the villian was a different actor, so greater was the change in his face. I stopped the film to look it up and found out it was four years. Four hard years for that one guy. All told it's average enough but I wouldn't bother buying a copy. I doubt I'd need to see it again. It was from the free section of Amazon Prime for those that might want to check it out.
Extraterrestrial 2011 Written by Yuri Golichenko, Sergey Krutin and Olga Shulgina, directed by Sergey Krutin. A surprising and entertaining film from Russia and the Ukraine.
Alexander is a local policeman, he lives in a small town in the Ukraine, one day he's visited by Tolja, a local townsman who wants to show him a treasure. Tolja is really interested in getting a reward. It turns out to be a tiny deformed humanoid in a closet at his mother's house. It's got a giant head and a deformed body, it's small, like a rabbit in size. They think it's an alien but they aren't sure. The man above Alexander isn't wanting anything to do with it but Alexander insists. He goes to a scientist who thinks it could be extraterrestrial, she calls a UFO guy.
Alexander, Tolja and the UFO guy investigate, they get totally wrapped up in it, so much so that Alexander's wife leaves him. Alexander tells the other two he was picked up by aliens. He'd been a firefighter in a previous job, they were the first squad sent to Chernobyl, he got taken shortly after, he turned up in a forest two months later. While the other men in his squad had all gotten lethal doses of radiation, he is radiation free.
It's different enough that I liked it, it is a bit slow going, there are enough entertaining characters to get you through the slow times. It's another from AP. I might want to watch it again sometime.
