Zoo Baby 1957 Jan Read wrote the story and the screenplay, David Eady was the director. That kid is Gerard Lohan, he plays Pip, the son of a big game hunter. Dad decides Pip should go to school in the UK and he must leave his animals at home. Pip smuggles a monkey on board but it gets caught at the dock and quarantined for a month. Now he's sad and in London with no pet. He likes the Chessington Zoo and when the opportunity comes along he steals a coatimundi he thinks is being mistreated. The opposite is true, Pip is a bit of an idiotic zealot when it comes to animals. He smuggles the little critter into the house and there's a good bit of collateral damage before some brighter people figure out what's happened and fix it up. Sadly, Pip isn't punished enough for his misdeeds. Nice scenery around London and an about average story. Got the job done. I was mostly entertained but it's doubtful that I'll ever need to see it again.
