The Haunted Castle 1921 Story by Rudolph Stratz, screenplay by Carl Layer and Berthold Viertel, directed by F W Murnau.
There's nothing supernatural about the story, it's a murder mystery of a sort. Count Oetsch was accused of murdering his brother but the court failed to convict him. He shows up, uninvited, to a hunt at Castle Vogelöd, as does the dead brother's wife and her new husband Baron Safferstätt. It's not a pleasant time for anyone as the whole story is slowly revealed in flashbacks.
The guy I bought this from said it was kind of dull, or something along those lines, and it's true. It pokes along and in the end a rich guy is dead. I don't know if I would bother watching it again but now I've seen it. I'll hang onto the DVD anyway.
