The Great Train Robbery 1966 Written by Henry Kolarz and Robert Muller, and directed by John Olden and Claus Peter Witt. It was called The Great Train Robbery when released in the UK, the poster is from the US release. The German title is Die Gentlemen bitten zur Kasse which translates as The Gentlemen Ask For Cash.
This is one of the extras on the Robbery Blu-ray from Network's The British Film series. It started out as a three part TV mini-series and that was edited into one film for theatrical distribution. The print on the Blu-ray has some fair bit of damage, both for picture and sound. That doesn't stop it from being watchable.
The story follows the men around as the plan comes together, there's some fairly good robbery stuff and the eventual collapse of the plan plays out well. It's documentary style but still very fictional. It turned out to be a nice take on the robbery although a bit slower than I might like. I'd watch it again someday.
