When The Clock Strikes 1961 Written by Dallas Gaultois and directed in Edward L Cahn.
An interesting crime film centered in a small inn near a prison. A cop murderer is being executed at midnight and he's going to his grave without ever revealing the location of the $160,000. A witness from the trial comes to the inn. He's unsure of his identification and he feels guilty that the murderer is due to hang. The witness meets the warden at the inn but the man can't do anything for him. There's a big storm blowing over the town and the roads are a mess.
The murder's wife is at the inn, then another woman shows up claiming she's the wife. A man shows up claiming to have killed the cop the murderer killed. He's too late to get to the prison, it's midnight and the phones are down from the storm. The murderer who isn't a murderer gets hung and the real killer is taken off to jail. A clue to the money turns up and things turn nasty.
I enjoyed it, a good solid picture with some twists here and there. I thought the cast was serviceable and the end was a bit sappy. You can have a gander by clicking the link in the title.
