Das Gasthaus An Der Themse 1962 Based on The India-Rubber Men by Edgar Wallace, screenplay by Harald G Peterson, Egon Eis and Gerhard F Hummel, directed by Alfred Vohrer. Produced by Rialto Film and filmed in West Germany with stock footage of London added to the final film. In the west the title of the film is The Inn On The River.
Joachim Fuchsberger plays Inspector Wade, he's under pressure from his boss to catch the robber and murderer nicknamed The Shark. Klaus Kinski plays a local scumbag. They are both in a lot of these Wallace adaptations. Joachim plays a lot of cops, all pretty much the same, and Klaus plays a big stack of wide-eyed crooks and murders.
The crimes all happened near the Thames and one of the main interests of the local police is the Mekka bar. It's home to the criminals and other low life found on the river. As Wade digs into the case he discovers a couple of twists to the story. There's plenty of murder and mirth in this one. The Shark is a dastardly villain who deserves some punishment. I enjoyed it, there's a fair bit of action and a good mystery. You can find out if you like it by clicking the link above.
