Doctor Who 0090 The Robots Of Death Four part story that aired January 4 to February 19 1977. Written by Chris Boucher and directed by Michael E Briant. I started early Sunday and watched a passel of shows today.
The Tardis drops the Doctor and Leela into a mining vehicle where someone has programed the robots to kill humans. One by one the crew gets picked off despite the Doctor's help. He does save a few of them. I enjoyed the serial again. I liked the sets but the costumes are a bit funny.
Doctor Who 0091 The Talons Of Weng-Chiang Six part story that aired February 26 to April 12 1977. Story by Robert Holmes and directed by David Maloney.
I enjoyed the story but I found myself bumping the speed up to 1.5 about the third episode. Great sets and locations, decent baddies.
Doctor Who 0092 Horror Of Fang Rock Four part story that aired September 3 to 24 1977. Written by Terrance Dicks and directed by Paddy Russell. The first serial from the 15th series.
Another alien invasion story, this time set on a lighthouse a hundred years or so ago. The Doctor and Leela were hoping for Brighton Beach but wound up on a desolate rock with a lighthouse. The Doctor sets up a defense against the alien but it manages to kill most everyone there before the mothership is destroyed. Entertaining.
Doctor Who 0093 The Invisible Enemy Four part story that aired October 1 to 22 1977. Written by Bob Baker and Dave Martin, directed by Derrick Goodwin.
The first appearance of K-9 was fairly entertaining. Another alien invasion story, this time set 3000 years in the future. I enjoyed it a bit better than the first time I watched it but I think Bob and Dave have written some better serials. I like K-9 for the most part so I watched the second story packed with The Invisible Enemy. In the US they are packed in a 2 disc DVD box. In the UK each has their own DVD box which are then packed in a nice slipcase. My DVD set is made up of DVDs from both countries. Often the British DVDs were much cheaper.
K-9 And Company: A Girl's Best Friend Special that aired December 28 1981. Written by Terence Dudley and directed by John Black. In 2005 the BBC gave Sarah Jane Smith her own show with K-9 making occasional appearances.
Sarah Jane Smith visits her auntie only to find her gone. Her aunt's nephew shows up and the pair of them get involved with a local witch's cult. K-9 had been sent to Sarah by the Doctor and the crate had arrived while Sarah was out of the country on a story. Nice to see him helping out. It's slight but fun enough.
