Belphégor ou le Fantôme du Louvre 1965 Based on the 1927 novel by Arthur Bernède, story by Jacques Armand, screenplay by Claude Barma and Jacques Armand, directed by Claude Barma. Four episodes with a total run time of 4 hours and 48 mins aired in March 1965 on the French network ORTF.
A strangely garbed figure appears in the Louvre and people start getting murdered. The police are called in and a young journalist decides to investigate on his own. The story gets more and more complicated and there's a bit of a romantic love triangle to add a bit of jeopardy for the ladies involved. Hopefully the show will remind young women it's a bad idea to get romantically involved with reporters.
It's a bit slow moving and there's plenty of talking. I still enjoyed it. You can get it on DVD but I watched the watchable copy on YouTube. You can find it by clicking the link. You might like it, who knows.
