The Smallest Show On Earth 1957 Produced by Sidney Gilliat, Frank Launder and Michael Relph, screenplay by William Rose and John Eldridge, directed by Basil Dearden. A British comedy set in a run down cinema.
Bill Travers and Virgina McKenna play a young couple, Bill inherits a run down cinema from an uncle. The Bijou is nicked named the flea pit, the couple are downhearted about it. The owner of the local cinema the Grand wants to buy the Bijou, he low balls the price and they pretend to open the cinema to drive up the price.
Peter Sellers, Margaret Rutherford and Bernard Miles are the staff of the Bijou, they are a handful. Things go up and down but eventually things come to a satisfactory ending. I was happy to watch it and would watch it again.
