Dr Watson And The Darkwater Hall Mystery 1974 Screenplay by Kingsley Amis, directed by James Cellan Jones. A made for TV production that aired on the BBC. Four years after the show aired Amis adapted the screenplay into a story that was published by Playboy. The same year it was released in a hand printed paperback edition of 165 copies. There were 15 copies of a signed hardback version. You can still find copies on Abebooks.
Dr Watson takes on a case while Holmes is away on holiday. A woman comes to him seeking help to protect her husband. Dr Watson travels to Darkwater Hall in the Cotwolds. Edward Fox plays Dr Watson, he finds a big country house filled with the usual sorts of rich people and their servants. He digs into things and eventually solves the mystery.
It's a low key pastiche, gently poking fun at the usual goings on in a Holmes story. I enjoyed it and was glad to have stumbled onto it on YouTube.
