A Touch Of Cloth Series 1-3 Created by Charlie Brooker and Boris Starling, written by Charlie Brooker, Daniel Maier, Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley and Joel Morris, directed by Jim O'Hanlon. There were 3 series that aired on Sky 1 from 2012 to 2014. Each series has two episodes that aired a night apart in August each year. The two episodes share a story.
John Hannah was a Detective Inspector that quit the force after his wife was murdered. A case brings him back to the force where he gets a new partner in Suranne Jones. They investigate the murder and interview suspects. There's another murder, and they catch the killer.
The show is a parody of the British police procedural with the surreal dial turned up to Σ. There are silly situations, sight gags and non-stop jokes. Too many jokes at times. It's lucky that all of them aren't knee slappers, I'd miss a lot more jokes because I would have been laughing. By the end of the second series I was getting a bit tired of the non-stop jokes. Then they hit the mark, it was really funny, but the repetitive gags were dragging the show down.
I was glad to have seen the series, I'd watch it again but it will be a while. I'm greatly interested in Charlie Brooker, I prefer his Screen Wipe shows more than A Touch Of Cloth or Black Mirror. ATOC doesn't appear to be streaming right now. Someone gave me these to watch.
