The Blu-ray of The LEGO Batman Movie at Target has a Batgirl Minifigure as a bonus. She's pretty cute.
She looks like she can kick my ass. If I was an inch tall.
You get two of those yellow Batarangs and they could be used for something else. The Blu-ray also comes with 3 postcards.
The Batman Collectible Minifgures set jumped the minifig count by 25% so they could get more of my money. Good marketing plan and my lack of willpower, the yin and yang of collecting.
You can see there's a mix of characters from The LEGO Batman Movie. Each came it it's little blind baggie. A collector gets good at guessing what's in each bag and I only wound up with 2 or 3 duplicates. There are bigger pictures of the characters after the break. I liked this little Batwing set. I saw 30524 The Mini Batwing by the cashier at Target but I see that Brickset says it was a free set from LEGO online back in December 2016 and January 2017. I don't remember that but I rarely buy anything from the online store. I prefer to shop at the local LEGO store in the Mall Of America, thought that time year is when I tend to avoid the MOA. It's often very crowded.
It's often hard to find these small poly sets. I've always wished they would carry them at the LEGO store or offer them online. This one has a rather high piece count, 80 parts, so that make the $4 set a fairly good deal, just over 5 cents each.
The small wedge plate is new to me, there are 2 of each. The light saber handle comes in a pair and they are good for so many things. You get 6 of the 1x1 round tile and 2 of those black shield shaped pieces. Brickset calls them Flat Tile 2x3 w/angle. I bought a couple of this set to part out, especially for those shields. The rest of the parts are common standard parts found in a lot of sets. Nothing that can't be used at sometime.
You could get a worse set and believe me I have.
Out LEGO club has put on a display at the local comic con for 10 years now. Here's the latest. The hit of the display were the Superhero buildings.

Over the years LEGO has produced a number of Chess sets. This latest one isn't associated with a theme as the others in the past were. There were a couple of Pirates sets, a Vikings set, 4 previous sets that were Castle themed, and back in 1998 there was a PC Chess game.
It comes in a big box, with 1450 pieces for $54.99, yielding a price per piece of 4.08 cents with tax. I'm not looking at the set as something to build, chess has no interest to me. If you are interested in building your own chess set, this is a good opportunity.
You not only make the pieces but you make the board and their storage box. You can see below how it all works. The board is 10 inches by 10 inches and a couple of inches high. You also get enough parts to make a checker set.
I'm strictly looking at the set as a parts pack. A nice cheap parts pack. Admittedly most of the parts are pretty small but the quantity and the price reflect that. You get 100 different parts, most of which are in quantities of less than ten, 36 of the parts have totals of more than ten. Everyone is going to have different needs for their style of building but most builders can use many of these parts, especially if they have smallish collections.
There are a lot of plates, 436 of them, and some of them come in large quantities. The first of the images is the 16x16 plate in Dark Bley, those are very handy and often cost a couple of bucks on Bricklink. You only get 8 of them but at that price it pays for a quarter of the set and you only paid about 32 cents for them. I have a bunch of that size of plate but most of the ones I have are Friends colors and they aren't always good for anything than interior support. 1x1 plates are always handy and can buy them for 4 cents and under on Bricklink. If you have extra cash when you're putting together a Bricklink order it's always good to see what's cheap in the store and order it. The set comes with 22 of the black, 44 of the Light Bley and 24 of the white. 2x2 plates have similar type quantities: 39 of the black, 53 of the Dark Blue, 32 of the Light Bley and 39 of the white. Most of them are used for the case but some are in the chess pieces.
There are 344 tiles, mostly in black and white. There are 64 each of the 1x4 white and 1x4 black, 68 each of 1x2 white and 1x2 black. There are 8 each, in black and white, of the 1x2x2 Flat Tile Corner. There are 24 of the 1x4 Light Bley tile. That 2x2x2/3 bow comes in white and black, and you get 42 each. The 1x2x2/3 bow comes in the same colors but only 8 of each. Those bows seem to be quite popular with builders.
That 2x2 plate with one stud come in black and white and you get 32 of each. They make up the surface of the board with all those tiles. There are only 8 each of the black and white round slope brick, that's often used for a droid head, but here they are clean of printing and they can add a shape to any build. The round 2x2 grill brick comes in black and white and there are 10 of each. Not a great quantity but a builder's got to start somewhere. The big find, at least for me, is the 1x1 brick with studs on both sides. It comes in tan and there are 96 of them. It could be darn useful in the right hands.
The rest of the parts are also useful ones, depending on what you build. It's a good bargain for the right buyer. Still, I would be happy to see this get marked down in the fall, so I could pick up a couple.
The 10707 Red Creativity Box is the second of four small $4.99 sets that are color coded for order. It's good to sort your pieces. It makes parts easier to find. Plus sorting give you a chance to get to know your parts. When I was in Target today I saw they were selling this set. Here's the hype from Brickset.

The box says the set has 55 parts but the Brickset inventory says the set has 59 parts. Brickset suggests that the inventory is 107.3% complete. I looked at the Bricklink inventory and it says 55 parts. Brickset has two different tires, at 4 each, and the Bricklink inventory has only 1 type of tire with 4 pieces total. I suspect they'll fix that someday.
It's heavy on the red hues of course, some red and dark red, some pink and dark pink,the rest of the pieces are black, lime green, green, a dark grey plate, a trans clear window and a bit of white. Nothing much too exciting. The eye piece is kind of odd.
I picked up one of these LEGO shopping bags at the LEGO store today. It was $5.99 for a plastic cloth like material. I didn't need the bag until I thought it might be a nice thing to carry back and forth to the LEGO meetings. I'm always bringing something along for people to look at.
I like this series of little boxes with themed colors. The 10706 Blue Creativity Box has 78 pieces for a fiver. Here's the description from Brickset.

You can see 4 types of blue, regular, medium, dark and azure. There's a bit of white and white, some light grey, some yellow, an orange doughnut, some trans blue and trans white, and six silver rims. The price per part is pretty good, just under 7 cents with the tax added. This would be a good starter set for a little builder or a nice gift set. It might be more cost effective for builders with deeper pockets to pick up the larger Classic sets in order to build up stock.
There's a nice little poly bag at Target right now. Just a simple little Hot Rod. Only $3.49 for 38 pieces. I'm not usually interested in cars but I did like this one. I actually built it and the last couple of days I drive it around my table for a few seconds. Beats workin'.
The new seasonal set for Easter is a nice little one. It's got 145 parts for a tenner. That's pretty good, well under 8 cents each. Some are well worth that.

I didn't build the set, not much point really, but I did think that there are a few good ideas in the trio of what the description called locations. Like mini-vignettes.
You get a chicken and three eggs. The eggs are fairly new. I didn't have any. I think they have a few good uses for the right builder. You get a couple of minifigs, there's a nice print on the ladies top and the little kid has a magnifying glass and short legs. The latter used to be rather scarce but they are becoming more common.
You get a nice lime green wheelbarrow. It does come with wheels. There are 3 of the black fence piece and 12 of the 1x2 tan brick brick. The rest of the parts are mostly pretty useful. All in all a nice set.
